SunIdee created the Innovation timeline poster showing the 160 important innovations in a consumers life. Interested? Let us know and we will send you one.

Invented in 1901 by Hubert Cecil Booth. Through the years the design but also the technical features changed a lot. In the beginning of the 21st century several companies developed robotic vacuum cleaners. What shall the future bring?

Patented in 1914 by Mary Phelps Jacob because she thought she can do better than the not comfortable corset. After making it in the beginning for friends she saw there was a market for and sold her product to Warner Brothers Corset Company. And still now women are happy with this clever invention.

Frozen food was invented in 1923 by Clarence Birdseye when he saw how people from the Artic froze their food to keep it fresh. It was sold to the public in 1930 for the first time. Now everybody still enjoys this invention and a lot of people own a freezer. Who doesn't use the freezer these days?

The first TV was made in 1926 by John L. Baird and was in black and white. In 1938 Baird gave the world's first colour broadcast, sending a mechanically scanned image from his studios to a theatre. The first actual network colour broadcast would take place later, in the US in 1951 and 1967 in the UK.

In 1927 Erik Rotheim, a Norwegian engineer, patented the first aerosol can and valve. He used this invention to wax his skis. In 1949 Robert Abplanalp invented a crimp on valve, which enabled liquids to be sprayed from a can. Now days spray cans are used for different products. Some surprising examples: Americans have spray cans containing ketchup, cheese and mustard and the Japanese have coffee and chicken soup in spray cans.

In the 1920 the tea bag was commercially established. Tea bags come in a lot of shapes and materials. In 1996 Lipton and PG Tips (manufracted by Unilever UK) introduced the pyramid shaped bag. The 3D design gives the leaves more room to flow and infuse.

The method of brainstorming was first introduced in the 1930's by Alex F Osborn in his book Applied Imagination. It's a group creativity technique used to generate a large number of ideas for a given problem. In 2002 Deborah Nas and Michiel Oudakker started SunIdee and launched the BrainTornado, a brainstorming board game, that took brainstorming to the next level.

The vinyl, fabric-reinforced, multi-purpose pressure sensitive tape was invented in 1942 by Permacel. Did you know that it is NASA's policy to have a roll of Duct tape on every space shuttle mission?

A.S Douglas created in 1952 the first graphical computer game- a version of Tic-Tac-Toe. The first game played on a television set was written by Ralph Bear in 1967. Through the years a lot of games were created. Today's gaming industry is the most innovative of all industries.
