For retailers and manufacturers who sell their products through retail channels, it’s crucial to have good insight in the needs and behavior of the shopping consumer (‘the shopper’). Reason for this is that it is often not the consumer at home who makes the purchase decisions, but the shopper in the store. This is especially true for supermarkets: more than 70% of all purchase decisions here are made in front of the shelf, where a product is chosen within 6 seconds.
The one-day Shopper Insights workshop helps you to create insight in the behavior of your shopping consumers and helps you understand how your customers experience your store, your products and your services. The workshop can be enhanced with a one-day brainstorm session in which your team will come up with ideas to increase your store’s sales. We help your team members to think out-of-the-box, in a practical and inspiring way, with clear objectives in mind.
The way we work - preparation
The success of a good Shopper Insights workshop lies in a good preparation. That is why we take a look at (some of) your stores at the beginning of the project. Based on intake meetings with the project owner, we clearly define the objectives and the desired results.
Workshop and tools
The workshop consists of two elements: creating insight in the shopping behavior of your (potential) customers and transforming these insights into concrete opportunities. For the first part we will train your team in how to effectively interview your shopper to gain insight in their behavior and motives. After the training, your team members will go into the field and observe and interview shopping consumers. This will result in concrete insights and dilemmas that will be translated to opportunities on how to improve the shopping experience and how to increase your sales.
In the workshop we use the Shopper Mindset tool:
Four Shopper Mindsets
Based on extensive research, SunIdee has developed a model that describes the four different shopper mindsets. Shoppers can have different mindsets depending on the situation they are in. That requires different approaches to influence them. The shopper mindset tool will help you generate ideas for your store or product range, based on the different mindsets.
